In the News: Poll: 69 Percent Support ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ Repeal

A new poll sponsored by the National Journal shows Americans are solidly behind the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the former Defense Department policy that banned gay and lesbian service members from serving openly in the military. President Obama and Congress reached a deal to repeal the policy in December 2010. 

A 69 percent majority of Americans say the repeal should stand, while 24 percent said the military should restore the ban.
