Maine sits on the brink of history today. Never before has a state referendum supported marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples, and the latest PPP poll shows a dead heat in the race.

Pass or fail, Iowans will want to know how the Maine vote affects the statewide conversation about marriage equality. As the state's largest LGBT rights organization, One Iowa is in a unique position to answer questions, give background and perspective, and provide local contacts for news stories about this vote.
