In the News May 10 Mason City Globe Gazette: Guest column from Dean Genth: The Greatest of These is Love When so many around us are hurting in one way or another, why do we choose options that do not reflect love? We have recently witnessed a unanimous Iowa Supreme Court decision that allows all people in Iowa to be treated equally when applying for a marriage license. May 16 Time.com: The Fragility of Gay Iowa It's a brand new day here in Iowa since April 3 when we became the nation's third state ? and the Midwest's first ? to permit same-sex marriage. But during the state's first three weeks of legalized gay marriage (the law went into effect April 27) some things haven't changed. Columnist to speak on same-sex marriagePulitzer Prize-winning columnist Clarence Page is scheduled to speak next month in Des Moines about same-sex marriage at an event sponsored by several gay-marriage advocacy groups. *We want to know what you're reading! If you see an Iowa-related LGBT news item in your local newspaper, please forward it to justin@one-iowa.org. |
