One Iowa in the News: Iowa activists react to Obama's marriage statement

Two Iowa groups at the heart of the debate here, The Iowa Family Leader and One Iowa, spoke to KCCI's Emily Price about their reaction to the announcement.
"Oh we were so excited, obviously we have eye on Iowa issues, but had another eye on the national movement," said Molly Tafoya of One Iowa.
"Iowa is at the forefront of this movement. There is no question about that. When Iowa became the third state to extend freedom to marry to gay and lesbian couples in 2009, I can assure you there were people across the country who said, "Iowa?" said Tafoya. "This is right on target with Iowa's history."
"Iowa is a state full of fair and just people and I know that our marriage equality has been a model for other states and I hope we continue to be a leader in this movement," said Tafoya.
Bob Vander Plaats of the Iowa Family Leader also reacted to the announcement.
"I think he is being controlled by the far left of his party," said Vander Plaats.
